Expat Tip of the Day from Atlantic Expats:
Get a U.S. phone number before you arrive.
It makes setting up appointments, confirming services, and navigating your move so much easier. Services like Google Voice or international SIM providers can help you hit the ground running—with bars!

Why choose Atlantic Expats out of the thousands of real estate agents in Hampton Roads?
Because I don’t just sell houses—I shoot the story behind every home and every street.
I film neighborhood and property videos like no one else—not to make it look good, but to show you what you need to see.
No filters. No fluff.
Everything I do is based on what you are looking for—because relocation isn’t about impressing, it’s about understanding.
Welcome to real estate with heart, honesty, and just the right amount of grit.

Because relocation is more than just logistics—
it’s love, bread, and a little lavender.

One of the most difficult parts of my job? Saying no—kindly, but clearly.
At Atlantic Expats, we work hard to build bridges between property owners and international families relocating to the U.S. It’s a rewarding job, but not always an easy one.
Sometimes, I have to tell a homeowner that their property—despite the care they’ve put into it—is simply not the right fit for my client.
Not because it’s not a lovely home.
But because my responsibility lies with both the families I assist and the property owners who trust me with their home.
I need to be honest with everyone involved. If I know a house won’t truly meet the needs of a relocating family, it’s my job to say so—early, respectfully, and clearly.
When someone is moving across the world, every detail matters: the neighborhood vibe, layout, commute, even how the space feels. And for the homeowner, having the right tenant—not just any tenant—makes all the difference too.
These conversations require empathy, honesty, and the courage to say what needs to be said—even when it’s uncomfortable.
Because relocation isn’t just about finding a house—it’s about creating a match.
And that starts with trust.

Thinking of moving to Hampton Roads?
Let’s talk crime rates.
Yes, there are lots of websites sharing crime stats—but don’t take them at face value. Always ask:
• Where’s the info coming from?
• How often is it updated?
• What exactly do they mean by “crime”?
Some sites lump everything together. Others are more specific. Either way, context is everything.
Here are a few helpful tools (with a critical eye!):
1. Community Crime Map – Real-time reports mapped out clearly.
2. NeighborhoodScout – Deep dive analytics & comparisons.
3. SpotCrime – A visual map of recent crimes by type and date.
4. Nextdoor Crime & Safety – What locals are actually saying.
5. Local Police Sites – Like Hampton.gov, often the most accurate.
6. 13News Now – Local news coverage for trends & updates.
But remember—stats only tell part of the story. The other part?
Insider insights from people who live there—both American and expat. That’s where we come in.
We’ll help you make the right call, not just the obvious one.
